U.S. tire imports up 13.2% year-on-year in the first half of 2022
The latest data shows that in the first half of 2022, the United States imported a total of 154.12 million tires, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%. Among them, the import of passenger car tires increased by 15% year-on-year to 86.82 million; the import of truck tires increased by 17% year-on-year to 30.28 million; aircraft tires increased by 25% year-on-year to 160,000; motorcycle tires increased by 21% year-on-year to 225 Ten thousand; bicycle tires increased by 17% year-on-year to 7.3 million.
In the first half of the year, the United States imported a total of 24.84 million tires from China, a slight increase of 0.04% year-on-year. Among them, passenger car tires decreased by 4.5% year-on-year to 1.55 million; truck and bus tires increased by 46% year-on-year to 1.7 million.
In the first half of the year, the United States imported a total of 29.99 million tires from Thailand, an increase of 11% year-on-year. Among them, there were 17.77 million tires for passenger vehicles, an increase of 9.9% year-on-year; 8.91 million tires for trucks and buses, an increase of 24% year-on-year.
Thailand and China are major importers of U.S. tires.
