China remains the largest trading partner of the EU in the first half of the year
On August 16, Eurostat released data that in the first half of 2022, the trade volume of the 27 EU countries with China was 413.9 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 28.3%. Among them, EU exports to China were 112.2 billion euros, down 0.4%; imports from China were 301.7 billion euros, an increase of 43.3%; the deficit was 189.5 billion euros, an increase of 94.4%. China remains the EU's largest trading partner, largest source of imports, and third largest export market, accounting for 15.4%, 21.0%, and 9.1%, respectively. In the same period, the trade volume between Europe and the United States was 413.4 billion euros, an increase of 37.2%; the trade volume between Europe and Russia was 150.2 billion euros, an increase of 36.4%.
In the first half of the year, the EU's overall foreign trade volume (excluding intra-EU trade) was 2,675.3 billion euros, an increase of 32.9%. Among them, exports were 1,237.3 billion euros, an increase of 17.9%; imports were 1,438 billion euros, an increase of 48.9%; the deficit was 200.7 billion euros, an increase of 337.8%.
